Abstract

Purpose – To provide a broader perspective on how the institutionalization of cooperation (network) through the work practices of local actors can generate positive social impact and reduce social vulnerability

 

Design/methodology/approach –We analyzed the experience of many local actors, in Brazil Amazon region, who cooperate towards the extraction and processing of Brazilian nuts until the formation of a collaborative network. Interviews were conducted and we stayed immersed in the field. In addition, we used secondary documents

 

Findings – The network cooperation around the extraction and processing of Brazilian nuts unfolds across sequential phases throughout collaborative projects and that it helps to reduce the social vulnerability.  

 

Originality/value – We discovered a hierarchical relation between the types of institutional work to institutionalize cooperation we highlighted that some types of institucional work can develop diferent conditions for the establishment of business networks.
