Resumo
Objetivo – Nos últimos anos, o ostracismo no ambiente de trabalho tem atraído considerável interesse no campo do comportamento organizacional, com efeitos prejudiciais para funcionários e organizações. Embora vários estudos tenham examinado a relação entre o ostracismo no trabalho e o estresse, nenhum estudo empírico investigou o papel da desconexão social como mediador nessa relação. Este estudo examina a relação entre o ostracismo e o estresse no ambiente de trabalho, bem como o papel da desconexão social como mediadora nessa relação.
Referencial teórico – Este estudo avalia as relações entre o ostracismo, a desconexão social e o estresse no ambiente de trabalho, considerando a teoria da conservação de recursos.
Metodologia – Os dados foram fornecidos voluntariamente por 451 funcionários que trabalham na região de Mármara, na Turquia. Foram analisados utilizando a modelagem de equações estruturais por mínimos quadrados parciais (PLS-SEM), implementada no Smart-PLS 4.
Resultados – Os resultados revelaram que o ostracismo no local de trabalho está positivamente relacionado à desconexão social e ao estresse no trabalho. A desconexão social também estava positivamente relacionada ao estresse no trabalho, tendo mediado a relação entre o ostracismo no local de trabalho e o estresse.
Implicações práticas e sociais da pesquisa – Com base nos resultados, foram feitas recomendações para gestores e futuros pesquisadores.
Originalidade – Este estudo contribui para a literatura ao examinar o papel mediador da desconexão social na relação entre o ostracismo no local de trabalho e o estresse ocupacional. Trata-se de um mecanismo que não havia sido investigado anteriormente. Além disso, amplia-se a aplicação da teoria da conservação de recursos, pois é fornecido um marco teórico que explica o mecanismo subjacente que vincula o ostracismo no local de trabalho ao estresse no trabalho. Essas contribuições oferecem novos insights teóricos para a literatura sobre o ostracismo no ambiente de trabalho.
