Abstract

There are many factors of business environment that justify the growing interest of organizations for information systems (IS) integration solutions: the increase of IS diversity and quantity in the organizations, search of competitive advantages that demand better management of the information, regulatory organs requiring more agility in the communication channel, and the tendency for works organized in a collaborative way, all of these topics requiring better information flow between organizations. Academics, practitioners and suppliers of information technologies resources are answering this demand through systematic approach for information systems integration, which involves specifics: techniques, concepts, professional and tools. The adoption of systematic approach results in the creation of an adequate environment for management of IS integration, named as IS integration layer.  This article presents a research carried out with big Brazilian corporations about their management vision and attitudes related to IS integration matter.
